It feels like a long time since 2006 when I watched Michael Rault for the first time. The deft ability combined with the intrinsic energy of his song writing has only ever deepened with maturity. Whirlpool marks a watermark in the seeming ease with which his recordings seem to drift effortlessly over the plate. It doen’t seem like Michael has to try very hard to coin these generous melodies and soothing vibes. They still carry all the original summer time cool ticket legitimacy he had pin pointed from day one but something more lasting continues to ossify alongside.
