Here is a record I’ve been dying to see on this blog ever since it came into CJSR. I’ve played this record every week for going on two moons. Young Running is a Toronto ensemble who are making some of the most enjoyably purist country folk going. Here Comes The Cavalry is chalk full of full hearted jaunts jam packed with lap steel, harmonicas, and heart warming drum shuffles. That said, this album make a major transition around the center of the record transforming from a classical approach to country folk to a progressively more alternative or poppy take (especially the final stroke). Each of these songs warm the soul but one in particular cannot go without being mentioned by name: “You Have No Idea.” This song here is truly the germ of a country classic. The music deserves some pop country radio play.
