I’ve been sitting on this record for six months just waiting to share this with the world. Yesterday Teddy Holtby’s new record dropped, his first in four years, and it is deceivingly massive. In only twenty minutes this record embodies every season of the year, every season of a young man’s heart, and a buffet of emotions. It tight rope walks a plethora of his own personal interior dilemmas while remaining there for you, the listener, wherever you are at that moment. There isn’t really a box for this kind of hip hop yet, but perhaps, if we are lucky, enough people will follow in this young man’s footsteps and we can call it rap-wave or soul-fi or something.
