Pigeon John is the best rapper alive. I have it on good authority that Pigeon John is among the top influences for every single OLD UGLY Recording Co. rapper (ie. The Joe, Mitchmatic, Teddy, the CBT, and of course, Mikey Maybe). PJ has finally dropped another solo record (it’s been a long and gruelling four year wait) and to commemorate what may very well be his best song yet, Mikey Maybe has reworked it into a glowing cover that highlights some of the dimensions the original doesn’t. The most noticeable tweak is the replacement of PJ’s indie pop drums with a slow 808 groove. Both songs are gorgeous and deserve your attention. Buy PJ’s new record, Dragon Slayer, almost anywhere! He’s big like that now.
